REHORI is registered as Not-for-Profit CBO (Community-Based) and RLO (Refugee-Led) Organization in Kenya
REHORI was founded to empower refugee as well as host communities through integrated development activities in order to foster mutual respect and prosperity in peaceful harmony.
The influx of refugees the world over requires an efforts by each and every one to ensure that those who lost their families, homes, properties as well as their homeland are protected and can prosper. Genuine refugees were always forced to leave their residences and now their challenge is to find a new community, where they can integrate and build a better future for themselves and their families.
REHORI was founded to empower refugees, asylum seekers, immigrants and anyone tossed-out of their previous livelihoods by either man-made or natural disasters.
Development of both, the refugee community as well as the host community is the main focus of REHORI, whose founders have experienced themselves the bitterness as well as the hardship of refugee life and strive for harmonious integration with host communities in mutual respect.
REHORI strives to sensitize refugees to accept the life they are in now, to forgive those who caused them to be refugees, to overcome and forget what happened to them and most importantly to focus on the building of their new lives in the land they find themselves in.
To support this, REHORI provides programs and mechanisms that help the refugees to build up their resilience, to enhance self-reliance and to lead independent lives with a stable economy.
Innovative training programs in various technical skills are offered in all REHORI centers to empower not only the refugees, asylum seekers and immigrants, but also the local communities that host them.
REHORI believes that education is the best way to empower communities, to change lives for the better and to develop the refugee as well as the host communities.
